'Karens in the air': In a popular TikTok video, a woman takes a microphone aboard an aircraft and rants about COVID-19.

Flight attendants warned the lady that she would be handcuffed if she continued.

In an unusual show of theatrics, especially for someone called a Karen, a passenger on a flight sprang to her feet and began screaming about COVID-19. She even packed her own headset microphone to ensure that she was heard by everyone.

Karen stands in front of her other passengers, wearing her headset and wedged between two real flight attendants pleading with her to return to her seat.

"This is my microphone, and you are not permitted to steal it. I attempted to borrow yours, but you are unwilling to let me use it," Air Karen relays this information to the flight attendants. "I took my microphone with me, and I want to utilize it."

Jawny, a singer-songwriter, uploaded the video mid-flight on Saturday, claiming he purchased in-flight Wi-Fi just to broadcast the event in real time. In 11 hours, the viral video had over 900,000 views and 80,000 likes.

After attempting to deescalate the issue verbally, one flight attendant tells the lady that if she does not calm down, further measures would be used.

"Immediately take your seat or we will have to handcuff you," one flight attendant warns. The carrier on which they are travelling is unknown.

"You're going to handcuff me?" the lady responds, apparently unaware that her actions may have repercussions. "I do not need handcuffs; I am totally harmless." I believe you're all enjoying this because, as I already said, I'm not very attractive."

In the rear, an enraged passenger can be heard saying, "You just want the spotlight, that's what she wants." As Karen continues her tirade, other angry people begin to speak, but their words are unintelligible.

The lady continues to scream about people not understanding "what reality is anymore" and is led to her seat by flight attendants, where she picks up a travel carrier containing her puppy. The flight attendants then take her to a different section of the aircraft. One of the flight attendants is seen carrying what seem to be yellow disposable handcuffs, but she does not appear to be placing them on the lady.

"My dog is more intelligent than you," she says as she is escorted away.

Naturally, the comment area included some jokes.

"That no-fly list is going to be so lengthy that it will resemble a CVS receipt," one observer observed.

"She really believed she was going to give a TED presentation on the trip," another commented.

"Portable microphones are on the verge of being prohibited from carry-on baggage," one individual joked.

"Karens in the air," said one user. "We refer to them as Airens."
