What happened to Brittany Murphy from What Happened?
Brittany Murphy, What Have You Done? like another (better) documentary, it raises a query about a long-dead issue; Curiosity, on the other hand, vanishes after just a few minutes into the new two-part HBO Max series. With audio from Murphy's mother's agonized 911 call, filmmaker Cynthia Hill opens the documentary abruptly, and things don't get much better after that.
We've made a turn in the right direction with the emergence of documentaries that focus on early-aughts Hollywood's treatment of women. Is it really necessary to reenact Murphy collapsing on her bathroom floor, as the doctor claims?
Throughout the book, Hill follows Murphy's journey from provincial theater to small-screen stardom in Clueless at the age of seventeen, demonstrating her evident skill and enthusiasm for the acting profession. To the contrary, she devotes much of her attention to the death of Murphy, offering talking-head time to journalists from various publications. However, there is only a brief interview with a young woman who claims to be Murphy Bertolotti's father's best friend (Angelo Bertolotti died in 2019). The information presented here is mostly based on unreliable third-party accounts.
There's a segment in which Kathy Najimy, who co-starred with Perez Hilton on King of the Hill, expresses herself honestly and thoughtfully about what happened to her buddy. Just one of his disgusting statements about famous ladies (he predicted Murphy's death in the near future) is all he needs to call him "gross." As far as I can tell, he only believes that celebrity media is "gross" in 2009. Even after Murphy's death, no one has held him responsible for his terrible online postings about her.
Hill focuses a lot on Murphy's marriage to screenwriter Simon Monjack, who died from the same reasons as Murphy five months later. She attempts to paint him as some enigmatic con artist, but the truth is far more straightforward: He was a violent abuser and a cunning manipulator. More proof comes from Monjack's relatives and ex-wife, but the film has already lost sight of its real issue.
It's not uncommon to see scenes from Girl, Interrupted, and Don't Say a Word spliced together out of context and used only to make people laugh out loud. Even more horrifying, Hill incorporates video from numerous anonymous YouTubers who have never met Murphy but are willing to guess about what happened to her in the documentary. Many of them are wearing makeup and making outrageous claims about her life on YouTube, which is a complete subculture.
I didn't feel like I learned anything new about Murphy as a person or artist by the time the documentary ended. Her grief was palpable at being reduced to the status of true-crime curiosity.

frighten the whole family with Disney+'s selection of the finest Halloween movies.
Halloween is a great time to introduce children to scary movies, but parents don't have to worry about their children having nightmares as a result. It's also the first location you'll be able to see Hocus Pocus in 4K Ultra HD. Bring some Halloween candy and a warm layer of clothing; this is going to be a spooky good time.

Dune is a visually stunning work of fiction.
Dune intentionally leaves the reader with a sense of unfinished business. As a film based on Frank Herbert's landmark sci-fi novel, which in the 56 years since its publication has influenced everything from Alien and Star Wars to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time trilogy, Dune doesn't try to squeeze hundreds of pages of complex world-building onto the screen.
Numerous efforts have been made over the years, some of which failed or turned out to be major disasters. Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) transforms Dune into a visually stunning extravaganza without ever seeming overpowering.
What's the story behind Dune?
There is a religious order known as the Bene Gesserit in Dune that has spent years executing a strict breeding program. They also have the power to force someone to do anything by using only their voice, which is clearly influenced by the Jedi mind trick in Star Wars. And that's only the tip of the iceberg. The main plot is around Timothée Chalamet's character, Paul Atreides, and his family, House Atreides, as they face tremendous change.
The film Dune will be released on HBO Max and in cinemas on October 22.

INFLUENCES OF CULTURE
In your story and in Maid's narrative, there are two distinct types of abusive relationships.
Netflix's You's third season has many murders and attempted murders, following in the footsteps of the show's first two seasons. While season 3 continues to poke fun at true-crime cliches, it also takes a closer look at codependency and abuse.
Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti) are happily married and the parents of a newborn child. A fictitious San Francisco Bay Area suburb, described by Joe as "soulless," is now home to the couple. As opposed to being content with his current relationship, Joe is already searching for "the one" because he only stayed with (er, didn't murder) Love because she was pregnant at the time. The ten-episode run is a delicate waltz between two individuals who have been through a lot and don't know how to be in a regular relationship.
In the short term, a couples therapist can help solve their problems before they go back to their old habits. In contrast to Joe's plans to leave Love and take Henry with him, Love will do everything it takes to keep their marriage together. This show's writing is so brilliant that even if both characters are killers, you'll discover sympathetic characteristics in them.
Using a fresh method of examining abusive relationships, the Netflix original series Maid does just that. Margaret Qualley plays Alex, a young mother who decides to take her daughter and leave an emotionally violent relationship based on Stephanie Land's memoir of the same name.
The mood of Maid may be rather depressing at times. It demonstrates how the American system fails a person who is attempting to escape an abusive relationship, as well as how poverty makes it impossible for a person to care for oneself and other family members. While rooting against the male characters, you also want to support Alex and all the other female characters on the program. The film Maid does an excellent job of portraying the hardships of those who have left abusive relationships while being nonjudgmental toward those who return to their abusers. It's a gritty, engrossing show.
