After being slammed on TikTok by workers, Hooters now offers new shorts as an alternative.
'I hope you don't fart while wearing them,' said the waitress.
After receiving negative feedback on TikTok, Hooters is allegedly considering making a new element of their uniform optional.
Several Hooters servers have shown off their new shorts in the past week or two, but they were more like "underwear" and "panties" than "shorts."
”
They found that the new shorts were noticeably shorter and sat higher on the hips, similar to underwear. An employee at a Hooters restaurant said that the new uniforms had "caused half the Hooters ladies leave." According to the employee's most recent TikTok post, after her viral video went viral, Hooters CEO John Schnatter called her and told her she could wear the old shorts again. More than 31 million people have seen this video on TikTok so far.
The question "Where does the wonananana go?" was raised by users on another TikTok. "I hope you don't fart while wearing them," he said.
The uniform was not a deal breaker for all workers. Several people said that wearing shorter shorts had resulted in them earning more money.
The shorts have reportedly been sent to Hooters throughout the country, starting in Texas and spreading from there. However, for decades, the costumes worn by Hooters' employees have been criticized. As well as cash settlements for 400 current and former workers, a 2010 class-action lawsuit resulted in loosened uniform standards. After being placed on a month-long "weight probation," a Michigan Hooters waitress filed a lawsuit in 2010.
New York-based Original Hooters Group, which also has locations in Chicago and Tampa, informed NBC that it would not mandate the new shorts for its workers. This is the first time that the new uniforms have been worn by Hooters of America LLC franchisees in Texas and Oklahoma, as well as in other states. For months now, the outfits have been worn by the Hooters Girls and customers in various Texas cities and have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback.
