 Norma Dumont defeated Aspen Ladd in her first-ever UFC main event yesterday night (Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021) at UFC Vegas 40, which aired live on ESPN+ from inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ladd, who had a severe weight cut earlier this month, was stepping up from bantamweight to stand in for Holly Holm in the featherweight title bout. She had been preparing for two weeks for this battle, but Ladd was unable to fully execute her strategy in this match. Indeed, after the third and fourth rounds, Ladd's corner pleaded with her, "Please tell me what you're doing!"

Dumont, on the other hand, walked out of range. She used a great jab and fluid footwork to strike and avoid being struck. Although the featherweight contender might have done more, she was cruising and left no question that she was the superior fighter.
